Helidon rocked back to the 50’s & 60’s
ROCKERS of all ages, jived the night away to the music of the 50’s and 60’s at the Rock N Roll Sock Hop, at the Helidon Community Centre at the weekend.
The hall was decorated in the style of a 50’s Milk Bar, complete with giant soda pops, café booths and myriads of pink and green balloons. The girls and boys dressed in the styles of the era, took people back to the time of” Happy Days” and “Grease”.
Las Vegas entertainer Bobby Brooks Hamilton, had the audience in fits of laughter at his portrayal of “Little Richard.” While Rex McNamara , sang the songs of Bobby Rydell.
Barry Larter brought the legendary J.O.K. back to life. All three artists were backed by Gold Coast Band The Premiers.
The next Helidon event will be a Kentucky Hoe Down/Grand Ole Opry , on Saturday 4th September.
